Native App Lets You Send And Receive MMS On The iPhone

in

Good news, everyone! We reported a while ago that someone had created a native MMS application for the iPhone that would allow iPhone owners to send MMS messages to other people, but it still couldn't receive MMS messages. Thankfully that has changed. The SwirlyMMS has been updated to enable iPhone users to both send and receive MMS.

In order for the app to work correctly, you'll need to make sure that you have your settings configured correctly for your region and carrier. You can get instructions on how to do that here.

Also, it hasn't been mentioned, but we think you might need to add MMS to your iPhone plan for this to work correctly.

You can find SwirlyMMS in the Installer.app under the "network" catigory.

A big thanks to 'Leonardo Giovanetti' for the tip!

does this work?

i have a legit att account with 1.1.4, what do i need to do other than add theMMSC and Proxy? i have been reading about adding mms to my account, but it doesn't look possible. also it keeps crashing.

Does not work

still crashes

Its still the same as it was before on any other firmware. it crashes and closes when you open it. You can open it the first time and set up the settings but then when you go back into it, it crashes and closes. maybe there is a fix for this but I havent found one yet.

You have to restart your iPhone

what version?

Any idea what the updated version is? I've had swirly on my phone for a while, and did a bunch of updates this weekend but didn't pay attention to what apps were being updated. I have v0.2.2 and it looks and works just the same as it did before.

It Doesn't Work

This doesn't work. AT&T won't let you add an MMS account to an iphone plan. End of story for AT&T users. Stop dangling this crapola in front of us and report on it as if it works and is the best thing since sliced bread - it doesn't and it isn't.

Maloogah!

yes it does work and i'm with at&t. you have to call at&t and tell them that you want mms on your plan and if they say the iphone doesnt support mms just tell them you have another phone that does support it (which is every other freakin phone in the world) and you want to switch sims. they put a package on my plan that is pay per use. 25 cents a message. not worth it to me so i deleted my swirly mms.

i'm on O2 payandgo UK, i keep getting 'failed to send MMS'
'failed to POST: timeout or error when reading http header'

any ideas???

settle down. if you just talk with the representative on the phone in a civilized manner they will add it to your account. They will also tell you (per their instructions) that it will not work with the iphone. this program DOES WORK. if you don't like leaping hurtles, then set your phone to factory settings and stop knocking on the developers! for most interested in hacking phones (and life in general) challenges are just a part of it. you aren't going to find plug & play in this world.
