More Details On Yesterday's 1.1.3 Jailbreak
After spending quite a bit of time restoring and re-jailbreaking my own personal phone I've come to the conclusion that, as many others have, yesterday's jailbreak is not ready. Not for the average user, at least. Talking with readers and other folks who have used this method brought several issues to my attention. For example, users with legitimate AT&T accounts who have upgraded to 1.1.3 and proceeded to downgrade to an earlier version in order to jailbreak will likely be left without service. There are workarounds, but even then there are further issues.
There has been speculation that the primary source of these problems lies in correct permissions, although this notion has yet to be confirmed. However, the one thing I'm certain of is that this jailbreak is only for those users who don't mind ending up with a partially functioning phone.
Some issues I've personally observed:
- Stock ringtones sometimes do not function
- Google Maps location service sometimes do not function
- Hybrid view in Maps may not work
- Anything with DRM will not play on some iPhones
- Mail issues
- Wi-Fi and EDGE settings may not save
- Your puppy may go missing
- No service on iPhones which had been previously upgraded to 1.1.3
For those experiencing no service when used with a valid AT&T account, the problem can be solved by replacing the lockdownd file located at /usr/libexec with the original file found inside the v1.1.3 recovery package.
We're hoping that the dev team comes out with a more reliable version but in the meantime it might be best to wait.

1.1.3 Jailbreak woes
Worked almost perfect - although I can do data stuff with the browser and the weather application, Google maps loads and moves around correctly, but the locate function doesn't work and the Edge icon never appears. Trying to change the APN settings for AT&T Edge doesn't seem to work.
Resetting all the network settings under the Settings/General/Reset doesn't seem to help it.
I'm guessing they will come out with a fix for this soon. Hopefully!
My Problems
Anyway, heres a list of other problems i have encountered:
- GPS in maps does not work for me
- I have to uninstall then reinstall all of my apps for them to appear
- Apparently some apps were made for only 1.1.1 or 1.1.2, so there are some problems with installing some apps...only a few apps did this but they were important ones such as Customize, ok customize was the only one i can remember right now, but i see that as a vital way to express myself...by making sure my phone was different than everyone elses...i dont have that much of a life i guess...

- I'm not sure if anyone did what i did, but i would have installer, lights off, and launcher, as well as the other Apple native apps on my home screen, and i would launch everything with, well..."Launcher"...anyway, launcher does not seem to work on my phone anymore, neither does iLauncher or Dock
- I don't know what happened to it or why it disappeared, but i cannot find my "Settings" button that is usually on my home screen...
There may be some others but i cant remember at this time...other than that, i guess those are my negatives...on the plus side, if u do do the soft upgrade, you can brag to all your friends, who are already monstrously jealous of u, that u have a jailbroken iPhone running 1.1.3 and though that will sound like a bunch of blah blah to them, you can secretly laugh at their unawareness of how awesome you are!
