Molson Contest May Provide Hint as to Canadian iPhone Release Date

in

A giveaway contest being held by Canadian brewer Molson may provide a hint as to when the iPhone will be released up north. The "Devisse et Compte" (translated: "Twist and Score") contest being held lists Apple's iPhone as one of the available prizes and lists the device as being available from Rogers Wireless as of January of next year. The handset is listed as having a value of $800 Canadian (approximately US$828), albeit this is an arbitrary value given the nature of the contest, which asks winners to pick one or more potential prizes in order to reach a pre-set spending limit.

The prize description fails to mention any subscription fees associated with the device.

According to data that's already been gathered, the iPhone in question would be a legitimate unit rather than an unlocked model. The Rogers version of the iPhone will require a contract, although no specifics as to the contract details have been provided.

Molson has warned entrants that the iPhone will not be functional until Rogers officially activates the service for all customers, which is expected to occur within January.
