MakeiPhoneRingtone 1.3 Back From The Dead

in

With the old ringtone workarounds back in action thanks to the combination of iTunes 7.5 and firmware update v1.1.2, an old app is being revived. Rogue Amoeba has announced that their MakeiPhoneRingtone is back in action after being broken by an iTunes update. Once again the app allows you to add custom ringtones to your iPhone. Just drop the cropped AAC file of your choice onto it's icon and the utility will process it and hand it to iTunes, from which you can sync to the iPhone.

Of course, MakeiPhoneRingtone will only convert it to the correct filetype and put it where it needs to be. It's up to you to crop it down to the right length (somewhere around 30 seconds). If you're not sure how to do this, Rogue Amoeba suggests Fission, their tool for fast and lossless audio editing, which you can buy for US $32
