Line Forms Outside 5th Avenue Apple Store In New York

The iPhone 3G launch is about 1 week away and people have started lining up outside Apple's flagship store in New York. Apparently the family at the front of the line are standing there in an attempt to break a world record for standing in line. The folks at Engadget got a chance to talk with him which you can check out on Viddler

wow

And it begins....

Crazy ?!

That just seems crazy to me. While I am one of the biggest Apple fans I know, (and I am a current iPhone owner), I can't imagine waiting in line for this version of the iPhone. I will probably upgrade eventually, but it will be weeks.....and probably months before I do so. Getting the 2.0 software will be plenty for me right now.
I had to chuckle when I read the other comment because it is so true,......... "and it begins."
To me it just doesn't seem as exciting as it was last year, I guess because it was a brand new product.

I hope their baby gets sick. Sorry but this is just plain stupid...

You don't hope the baby gets sick . You could have made a stronger statement saying "I hope the baby will be alright .

IMAO, Lighten bloody up.

Can't stand them.

For some reason, I can't stand those people, I couldn't stay a day let alone a week with them their, they seem bland and annoying. I hope its not just me.

come on

i am one of the many that wants a new iphone , but to wait for it a week ahead is just plain stuiped... i mean unless the phone can drive your car for you or even make your breakfest, why the big fuss..?
pluse i wolud like to wait like i did last year to see if the new phone really works good, bug problomes, and to be jail broken... when i make sure theis 3 things are in good order then i will get my new iphone... other than that its just stright madness....

and some one till thies guys to take the baby home.. thats not cool.

parents of the year...

Yup, this is pretty damn ridiculous.... waiting 4 over a week?... and with a damn kid.. the poor kid is blessed with incredibly retarded parents, it doesnt have much of a future, if the parents keep favoring electronics over it!!
but i dont think they r doing this to be guaranteed a 3G iPhone... i think its just about setting the new world record, 4 standing the longest in a line along with "the parents of year award"... i mean we will probably be the 1st country in the world to have the 3g iphone released (in New Zealand) and seriously no one seems to care or even know... and there is no one camping outside the vodafone stores, with their children!
dont think its worth upgrading my iphone for a 3g iphone yet...

ROFL!

STATEMENT: "We're hoping to get about 6 billion people to sign it."

REPLY: "That's everybody on the planet...that's a lot of people."

I did have a good laugh at that part.

um... you're only supposed to line up for products that are going to sell out, like PS3, Wii, and other such items. whats the point of lining up for a week when i could work for that week, then walk into the apple store friday afternoon with the money i made and buy one just as easily? apple knows what they are doing, there will be no shortage of 3g iPhones.

Even if they do run out, who needs one that badly that they must dedicate an entire week to ensuring they don't wait. Granted, I love the phone and will admit to having contemplated waiting a few hours for one...but a week. 7 days? 168 hours? I don't get it.

stupid.

this is completely ridiculous. a family, with a baby, waiting in line for an iphone for over a week. i think the parents need essons on how to take care of a kid, or maybe some lessons in common sense. morons.
