LG Philips LCD Makes Smudge-Free Touch Screen

LG Philips LCD has developed a new touchscreen technology that is resistant to smudges and dirt. The idea is actually quite simple. It uses a similar consept as that used in non-stick frying pans to create a surface that is both more resistant to smudges and dirt and easier to clean.
"Our new panel employs a principle similar to that used on non-stick frying pans. Dirt and oil can easily be wiped away," said Ahn Byung-Chul, development chief for advanced technology.
The surface will allow you to wipe off smudges, fingerprints, ink, and other such stickiness with your shirt, just like the iPhone's glass panel does. The new screens start mass production in the first half of 2008, making computers, tablets, and phones everywhere just a little less greasy.
"Like millions of other people, we use notebook computers when travelling on business. Fingerprints have always been an especially big annoyance, and if they are not cleaned off immediately they become even harder to remove from the screen. That is why we developed this new technology."
