Kevin Rose: iPod Touch To Get Hardware, 2.1 Software Update, iTunes 8.0

Digg co-founder and internet star Kevin Rose has a history of sharing rumors about the iPhone and other Apple devices, and now he's back with yet more alleged information about some product revisions and software releases from Apple. Kevin says that Apple will be refreshing their line of iPods in the not-too-distant future to include a redesigned Nano, cheaper iPod touch, iPod touch software 2.1, and the iTunes 8.0 update that will include new features, all in the next 2-3 weeks.

I want a Blu-ray MacBook Pro... *whine*

I don't understand..

I don't understand.. Why should Kevin Rose be a source for this stuff?? It's a Twitter ego stroking video.

Well, from what he's said in the past, he seems to know a fair number of people at Apple, likely in the Area 51 of Cupertino where all the good toys are kept. He gets iPhone firmware before it's released, too. At least that's what he claims. He's been right about this stuff a few times in the past. I think the first time his prophecy came true was actually with the first iPod nano if I remember right.

ok, so I was a bit grumpy this morning when I posted that. :-) Of course, the fact that I have a 16gb iPod touch I want to sell has NOTHING to do with that. ;-)

Apple does have a pattern though. Right before they come out with a newly designed iPod, they push the Back-to-School-free-iPod-with-laptop-purchase campaign. They did it in 2006 and they're doing it now. Also, they are giving a choice of the free iPod: touch or nano.
His news fits the pattern, and Apple will do it just in time to 1. Get ready for the holiday shopping and 2. Get everyone's mind off of the mobile me and 3G problems.

is..

is he posting from a jail cell?
