Is the iPhone 4 and 5 Coming to Sprint in October?

Adding the third-largest cellphone company with 52 million customers sounds like a great way for Apple to increase sales. A lot of people are locked into contracts, family plans or corporate agreements with Sprint, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want an iPhone. People who can’t afford an iPhone or dislike contracts probably don’t own one for these reasons. Not everyone prefers all the bells and whistles of a smartphone.

I’m not saying an affordable iPhone isn’t a great idea. I’m just saying a Sprint iPhone seems like a better bet, and would even increase the chances of a cheaper iPhone selling well. The math is simple: More carriers means more potential customers and more iPhone sales.

According to the Wall Street Journal, AT&T, Verizon and Sprint will all be carrying the iPhone 5 in October. Sprint is also supposed to be getting its own version of the iPhone 4 as well (possibly the rumored 8GB iPhone 4?). The details are slim, and nothing has been confirmed, but a Sprint iPhone in October doesn’t sound as crazy as some iPhone rumors we’ve been hearing this month.
