iPhone UK Announced

As we reported earlier, Apple announced that its partner for iPhone distribution in the UK will be O2. The UK iPhone will be made available through retail chain Carphone Warehouse on November 9th for £269 , including VAT. The announcement came early this morning from a press event held at the Regent Street Apple Store in London.
According to Engadget, when the iPhone goes on sale in the UK, the £35, £45, and £55 plans will all include unlimited data (we have yet to confirm these numbers). You'll also be required to sign a new 18-month contract. O2's CEO, Matthew Key was present to comment on the deal as well.
Although O2 does not currently have a massive EDGE network, it is being worked on. Currently 30% of its customers have access to the service, and the number is growing. Done ostensibly to mitigate this shortcoming, O2 has also negotiated free access to over 7,500 Wi-Fi hotspots, provided by Cloud.
Of note, the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store will also be available in the UK when the iPhone goes on sale this November.
