iPhone Ranks High In The Radiation Charts
Environmental Working Group, a non-profit research and advocacy group, has ranked 1,000 cell phones, including the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. While there isn’t yet any “conclusive” evidence that cell radiation is harmful, it’s probably a good idea to limit it when possible. Unfortunately for us, the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS are near the bottom of the list.
“The data is still conflicting and the science isn’t settled,” says Jane Houlihan, research director at EWG, on the subject of possible health risks posed by cell phone radiation. “But there is enough evidence now that it makes sense for people to take personal action while the teams of scientists and health agencies sort through the data.”
Neither device stands out with it’s radiation rating, though the 3G ranked lower with it’s rating of 0.24-1.39W/kg compared to the 3GS’s 0.52-1.19 W/kg.
Lowest in radiation were the Samsung Impression, Motorola RAZR V8, Samsung SG-t229, Samsung Rugby, and others. Among the worst were the Motorola MOTO VU2004, T-Mobile myTouch, Kycocera jax, and Blacberry Curve.
