iPhone Grows Market Share By 327 Percent In Q3

The iPhone has displayed a 327.5% gain in market share in the worldwide smartphone market for the third quarter this year, rising from 3.4% to 12.9% in just the quarter, despite the slowing worldwide economy’s effect on smartphone sales. iPhone sales have also passed sales of Windows Mobile devices in North America for the first time.

Currently Apple remains behind Research In Motion, which has 25.6% of the market in North America, as well as Nokia’s 15.6%. It is estimated that the worldwide economy has had a negative effect on smartphone sales as a whole, and therefore the iPhone 3G as well. Roberta Cozza predicts iPhone sales to continue to grow, but at a reduced pace.
