Anandtech has performed an inclusive benchmark test betweet the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G S, Palm Pre and Android G1 to see how each stacks up in terms of web rendering and app launching. Interestingly, they found that speed of web rendering improved 122% in the 3G S compaired to the 3G, and 22.6% compaired to the Palm Pre. It was also the top for app launching, with 14-72% speed increase over it's predecessor.
Meanwhile, Tap Tap Tap has found that the frame rate of their graphics-intensive but still un-optomized game Plasma is roughly four times as fast as on the 3G. Check out a video here.
The developer of AirCoaster 3D put together the following comparison video showing his game running on both devices.

I can only imagine what the next iphone is going to be like. Also the look because they have to change the style now since they are going 2 years with the same look. Who would of thought a phone would have this much of an impact. I use my iphone more than my computer now. And now i finally convienced myself to get the 3G S tomorrow. Can't wait

I am on the first Generation iPhone and I notice that it is running faster and more stable on 3.0.
