iPhone 3G Availability Checker Updated Every 15 Minutes

Still trying to get your hands on an iPhone, but haven't been able to catch Apple's iPhone Availability Page before it shuts off for the day? You're in luck, because TopMuffin.com has figured out how to tap into Apple's availability web page to get fairly up-to-date information on which Apple stores around the US still have 8GB, 16GB white and 16GB black iPhones and which ones don't, updated every 15 minutes.

Keep in mind, relying on this alone is probably a bad idea, considering that these things go pretty darn fast. Your best bet is still to use Apple's page early in the morning and camp out in line for one for as long as you're willing to tolerate waiting in line. Also, if you do use TopMuffin's page, it's a good idea to call up your local store and ask if they still have the model you want before driving out there.

They also note that Apple appears to be showing NULL values for availability for all of their stores recently, so the information may not be accurate.

You can access TopMuffin's availability checker at TopMuffin.com/3g-iphone-availability.

clever...but not very accurate

Thats a great idea from TopMuffin.com but I checked his page and his avalability did not match the stores actual avalibility when I called in. I wouldnt rely on it...yet.

Looking at that site, it looks like the iPhone 3G is available almost everywhere now.

Available, maybe. Easy, no. It took a friend 7 hours to buy one from the Sacramento, CA store Wednesday.

Although the site shows every store in Illinois has some phone available, I just called them all and they all claim to be sold out...every store.

Doesn't match at all with any of the stores in my state. According to Apple's site, all of them are out of phones. The Top Muffin site shows otherwise.
