Innaworks to Bring Java Porting Solution to iPhone
On Tuesday, New Zealand-based software developer Innaworks released a beta version of alcheMO, a utility design to automatically port Java-based games to Apple's iPhone handset. The software, which is intended to function as a tool to allow developers to tweak their titles to run on Apple's hardware, is reportedly capable of porting a standard Java Platform, Mobile Edition (Java ME) mobile game to the iPhone and iPod touch with additional manual adjustments.
Developers interested in beta testing the software can find more information here.
"With the expected introduction of iPhone's AppStore in June, iPhone is emerging as a serious gaming platform. We are amazed by the effectiveness of the touch screen and accelerometer on enhancing gaming experience," said Stephen Cheng, CEO of Innaworks. "We expect the early backers among game publishers to significantly benefit from their first mover advantage. alcheMo for iPhone will help mobile game publishers to reach the eagerly awaiting gamers with quality games on iPhone and iPod touch."
alcheMo for iPhone incorporates a patent-pending optimizing translator to convert Java ME application source code to equivalent application source code for iPhone.
