Free AT&T Wi-Fi Post A Mistake, Will Offer It Eventually

So the Wi-Fi hotspot situation has everyone (including us) pretty confused and a little frustrated at this point. Fortunately Saul Hansell of the NY Times decided to place a call to AT&T spokesman Fletcher Cook to get some answers. He says that the offer on their website that was posted and then promptly removed was "a human error".
However, he did note that this wasn't all coincidence that they keep posing it in some form or another. AT&T is planning on announcing it at a later date, although he didn't disclose when that would be. He did note, however, that their decision to include Wi-Fi access was their attempt to be more competitive.
“Our Wi-Fi network is a great way of differentiating the AT&T network and giving customers another reason to choose us over a competitor,” Mr. Fletcher said.
