FlyTunes Adds Audio, Video Podcasts, New Interface, Customizable Channel Guide

in

FlyTunes, the streaming internet radio service directed at mobile devices, has introduced several new features, including audio and video podcasts, a customizable channel guide, and a new user interface. They just launched 200 new channels of podcasts, both audio and video, and all compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch.

The interface has been updated to make it easier to find what you're looking for. Now, users find and select desired channels from two simple dialog boxes, with each channel showing detailed information, an SMS text message link to share the channel with friends, and a new customizable channel guide that lets you enable or disable individual channels or genres from the menu.

The new features are all available at no extra charge to existing users, and the service is free to users who still want to sign up. You can do so by navigating Mobile Safari to flytunes.fm and following the instructions.

FlyTunes flies slowly

The site is interesting, but response is sluggish. The music and video clips are brief and not equal in utility to the streaming audio available in iTunes.

Latest FlyTunes Upgrades

Just stopping in to update members on a few upgrades to FlyTunes: 1) A new pause feature that allows you answer your iphone while using FlyTunes. Your place is saved for up to 15 minutes. When you come back, you are right where you left off. (After 15 minutes, you get the current live feed.) 2)A minimal time delay of around 5 minutes between the actual broadcast and what you hear. 3) FlyTunes "FlyFacts" posted on the UI so we're even more entertaining!
