First WWDC Rumors Spread, Predictions?

Rumors are piling up for what the Worldwide Developers Conference keynote event will entail this Monday. The first is a double-hitter from AppleInsider regarding Mac OS X Lion and iCloud. Rumor has it that the purchase of Mac OS X Lion will include access to a certain tier of iCloud, Apple’s cloud service that will officially be detailed at WWDC.

Following in Mac OS X Snow Leopard’s footsteps (which only costed $30), it is rumored that Lion will share similarly low, aggressive pricing. That pricing will likely be under the $129 standard that Apple set prior to Snow Leopard. To drive more Mac App Store usage, Lion may be priced at a discount exclusively in the App Store.

According to 9 to 5 Mac, an education discount will be offered on iCloud plans to those eligible. Rather than a simple discount, there is also the possibility that those who qualify will have the option of special plans.

Marking the first product rumor for WWDC 2011, it seems that AirPort and Time Capsule products may see a refresh, if not a total recreation considering how infrequently they are updated. That is, as long as a diminishing and almost-depleted stock of these devices can be trusted to be such an indication.

Well, I am looking forward to everything. Lion and iOS 5 demonstrations will be exciting. The potential AirPort update comes as nice surprise since I was looking to purchase one in order to make my speakers AirPlay-compatible (which I recently learned is one of AirPort Express’s selling points).

Though this has been confirmed to be a software-focused event, could Apple be keeping a new iPhone introduction under wraps amidst reports that its announcement has been pushed back into September? I would say that there’s a 30% chance that we will see the next iPhone at WWDC. Though Apple has traditionally announced new iPhone models during WWDC, numerous reports seem pretty confident that iPhone 4′s successor won’t make an appearance until after August.

What are your predictions for Monday’s keynote? Could there be a few surprises that have not already been unearthed? Will we see a new iPhone?
