Duke Nukem 3D Hits iPhone, iPod Touch

For fans of classic first-person shooters from yesteryear, the irreplaceable Duke Nukem 3D [App Store, $2.99] has just arrived for Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch handsets. The port, developed by 3D Realms, Inc. and published by Machineworks Northwest, still has you facing down a Los Angeles full of aliens to shoot before they can steal the city’s babes for breeding purposes.

iPhone-specific features include TapShoot, which allows players to tap any part of the screen to shoot in that spot without having to perfectly line up a shot before firing. The game features both a thumb-stick style controller scheme as well as slider-style controls for improved movement.

Duke Nukem 3D is compatible with the iPhone as well as the second generation iPod touch or later, retails for $2.99 on the App Store and requires iPhone OS 2.2.1 or later to install and run.

Thanks to Kyle for the tip!
