Documents To Go Adds Word Document Editing, File Viewing/ Syncing To iPhone

After a great deal of anticipation from consumer and business users alike, DataViz has finally released Documents To Go for the iPhone and iPod touch, adding the ability to edit Microsoft Word documents on the iPhone and iPod touch at long last, as well as the ability to view view Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and Apple iWork-created files. Microsoft Excel spreadsheet editing will also be added as a free update for all customers.

First announced back in late October of 2008, DataViz has become the first solution for the iPhone for creating and editing Word documents, also adding the ability to view many other MS Office file formats. Document-editing functionality has been one of the single most requested features for the iPhone among business users and many consumers.

Documents To Go is available in two versions. The first, called simply Documents To Go, includes support for MS Word file editing and Office document viewing. You can get Documents To Go in the App Store for $4.99.

Documents To Go with Exchange Attachments provides the same functionality as Documents to Go, with the addition of the ability to both send and receive Exchange attachments. You can get Documents To Go with Exchange Attachments in the App Store for $9.99.

Both versions include the ability to sync with their free Documents to Go desktop application, available for free for both Mac and Windows, providing 2-way file synchronization for “Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, pictures & other files” over Wi-Fi. The app features a simple interface, as well as support for entire folders and sub-folders, with the ability to select only the files you want to download or upload to your mobile device. The Documents To Go desktop application is available for free for both Mac and Windows here.
