Chinese Knock-Off Makers Cashing In On iPhone Nano Rumors
These iPhone Nano rumors just keep coming. It seems to me that everyone and their mother is jumping on the Nano bandwagon. This latest little gem of an example was submitted by a Gizmodo reader (and in all-caps, no less) on Christmas.
OMG! I FOUND THE NEW IPHONE NANO! CHECK IT OUT MAN! THIS IS THE REAL THING! I BOUGHT THE ORIGINAL IPHONE 3G FROM THEM! AND THAT WAS REAL! THIS HAS TO BE REAL! CAN’T YOU SEE IT?!?!?! OMG! ASDADGAFAAEFGASDGADFASDHHHHH!!!
The device is being offered by a supplier in China. That should be clue number one; the theory is that this Chinese company has leaked the device to market before Apple launched it in the US.
Jesus Diaz, the guy who intercepted the tip, tried to explain it to him: “Dude, do you think a chinese supplier would have an Apple phone before Apple themselves?”
Not surprisingly it didn’t work. The tipster responded with: “COME ON! I KNOW IT’S REAL! IT HAS TO BE REAL! I BOUGHT THREE OF THEM FOR MY FRIENDS FROM MY HIGH SCHOOL IN TEXAS!!!”
The reality here is that Chinese makers of crappy cellphone knock-offs are trying to capitalize on the insane iPhone Nano hype by making their own crappy version. This one is made by Sam Tai Technology, and has “optional Java games,” “64 Polyphonic Ring Tone”, and “Multi-games simulatores [sic] insert”.
