BigBoss Repository Breaks With Hosting Site
Earlier this weekend, the Big Boss repository, one of the larger and more well-known repositories in Cydia and Installer, parted ways with their hosting site, iphone.sleepers.net. The repository owner said in this weekend’s announcement that they weren’t happy with the partnership, and had officially moved over to http://thebigboss.org/.
For those of you not familiar with the terminology, a repository is a hosting service that offers free software packaging and distribution to developers. In the case of the iPhone jailbreaking world, these repositories are collected into either Cydia or Installer.
The announcement was removed earlier this morning. It read:
“Unfortunately, the arrangement I had with sleepers didn’t turn out the way I expected, so for the sake of the community and my future involvement I felt it best to move,” Big Boss wrote. “Last night, I completed the move of the news site to my new servers. The repository move was invisible to the community since the domains in use did not change. However, folks wishing to find my news site will need to use my new repository URL: http://thebigboss.org. No update is required within the installer/Cydia since the URL did not change there.”
