Australia Carrier 3 Asks Customers To Petition For iPhone

Apple has announced the official carriers of the iPhone 3G in nations around the world, but one carrier who didn't get the deal is refusing to take it sitting down. Australian carrier 3 is claiming that, while Apple has not agreed to let them carry the iPhone 3G, they have received a great deal of interest from their consumers loyal to their network. Because of this, they are asking the people to show their support for their cause by digging their blog post on the popular social news website Digg.com.
The details of their negotiations are not known, so we can only imagine why Apple didn't give them the iPhone. As of right now, its only official carriers in Australia are set to be Optus and Vodafone, which will both be launching with it on July 11. Telstra has also announced that they will be offering it as soon as the 22nd, but no plans on their network have been announced. Even if 3 were to get the iPhone, it would probably be quite some time before they could get everything in place for it.
