AT&T Updates Online Upgrade Status Checker With New Eligibility Requirements

AT&T has updated their online upgrade eligibility checker for the iPhone 3G S with the new upgrade standards announced yesterday. Now the checker should show those who were eligible for upgrades in July, August or September as being eligible as of today. You can check your eligibility at www.wireless.att.com/iphone, or by dialing *639#.

Phooey. I'm not eligible until December 13th.

My wife's (regular) phone is eligible for an upgarde on 6/30 so I think I'm going to upgrade her to an iPhone 3G S and then have AT&T flip the accounts/phone numbers so that I get the new 3G S and she can keep her old phone. Hopefully AT&T can accomplish this.

I just logged onto my account at AT&T's website and I got an error when checking for upgrade eligibility. It said that there was a "system error" trying to retrieve my information and to try back later.......

I have the same date although I called AT&T and they said I'd be eligible. I also called my local Apple store and they said I'd be eligible. I have a feeling I'll be spending time on the phone with AT&T for a while tomorrow.

What if I already ordered the iPhone 3GS online and I have the December date? How do I get a $200 refund?

Finally. Even though a friend of mine called AT&T and they still quoted him the old prices and said the change was just a rumor. Hopefully this will correct that issue.

which officially makes me eligible. love it. thanks att, you did something right for once

You should get a refund from Apple or AT&T soon.

Why don't you upgrade her phone to the 3G S, then just switch the SIM cards? You don't have to have ATT switch the numbers. That is too complicated. Just put your SIM card in the new 3G S and put the SIM from the 3G S into your 3G.

An excellent point that may well work for others. In my case I want to take the 3G S and the put her back in her original phone. Believe it or not she likes her "pretty" pink razor. I know, I know... crazy talk.

I didn't see Michael J.'s response until now about having the same date as me but calling and being told he's eligible. That surprises me. Michael, tell us what happened. I'll call AT&T/Apple later this weekend maybe when things settle down and see what they say.

You could still switch the SIMS. Just put your old 3G SIM in the new 3G S and put the new 3G S SIM in her old Razor.

Good luck. I hope you can get the subsidy.

I may try as well since it seems like some people are having luck calling in.
