AT&T Memo Says iPhone 3G To Have MMS?

iPhone Atlas claims to have word from multiple sources that a memo was sent out to AT&T employees with a list of features for the iPhone 3G that includes MMS support. They note however that the information should be taken with a grain of salt, because, they note, "AT&T’s customer service representatives certainly aren’t known for delivering accurate information about soon-to-be-released products." One thing that does seem unusual about this is that there was no mention of MMS support made at the WWDC keynote, and it is widely believed that most of the announcements of new features, if not all, were probably made at that event. We'll keep you posted if more details show up.

iPhoneAtlas made a really good point: ATT hasn't revealed the amount of text messages included in the 3G plan. That could mean that some amount of MMS messages are included in the plan.

Mms?

To us n00bs can someone explain the difference between SMS & MMS? I get that it's multimedia but what does that actually mean? I've sent a few text messages (SMS) but that's about it. Don't have any experience with this newfangled MMS.

SMS= texts with just words.

MMS= Picture and video messages.

I believe they are both acronyms.

"S.M.S." = Short message service.

"M.M.S" = Multi-media message service.

The screenshots that go along with this report kind of scream fake to me. I hope that I am wrong but the UI in the shots does not look like it has the elegance of an Apple design. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but that little bit of the UI looks unusually tacky. IMHO
