AT&T Offers "iPhone Black" Model in United States

in

Straight out of left field and with little to no warning, wireless carrier AT&T is now offering a second model of the iPhone among its listed devices. The finding was discovered by an AppleInsider reader today and may add credence to rumors that Apple's second-generation, 3G-capable iPhone may feature a black plastic shell as opposed to the traditional aluminum casing.

The option to select an "iPhone Black" model is visible alongside the traditional "iPhone" for existing AT&T Wireless customers who are logged into their account on the carrier's website, and who choose to select or update their handset model.

Update: Gizmodo has word from AT&T that "iPhone Black" was just a temporary placeholder.

And the dummy name just happens to look like a lot of speculative photos. We'll see.

They've updated the site again. Now the only things you can choose from are iPhone, iPhone 4Gb, iPhone 8Gb, iPhone 16Gb.
