AT&T Begins Boosting 3G Networks

The 3G iPhone is quickly approaching, and AT&T is battening down the hatches in preparation for the storm of 3G iPhone users that will hit their network. According to an email sent in to CNET's Buzz Out Loud podcast by a listener in Pittsburgh, AT&T has started work on their 3G networks in the area to ensure that they're ready for the 3G iPhone by May (although previous reports show June as the most likely month for the launch).
While the revamping has yet to be confirmed by AT&T publicly, it would coincide with their efforts to improve EDGE speeds previous to the first generation iPhone launch with "Operation Fine EDGE".
AT&T has been promising an expansion of their 3G network in the year 2008 for some time, but the 3G iPhone might be the reason they've been waiting for to go ahead. Also, chief Ralph de la Vega took it a step further with a comment earlier this month saying that all smart devices on AT&T's network would be 3G-capable within a few months, but AT&T has denied it.

Reguardless of how you feel about AT&T's 3G coverage they were selling 3G phones before Jobs decided that battery life was more important than speed.
