AT&T Announces Free Starbucks Wi-Fi for Broadband Customers, None for iPhone Users

in

Today AT&T and Starbucks officially announced that they have begun to roll out AT&T Wi-FiSM service to company owned Starbucks locations. Although the total conversion of all Starbucks locations will continue throughout 2008, every store in San Antonio has been converted to the new AT&T service.

Starting May 1st, subscribers of AT&T's home and business broadband services will receive complimentary wireless access at more than 7,000 participating Starbucks locations. No mention of complimentary access for iPhone customers was made in the announcement.

When the change from T-Mobile to AT&T was announced earlier in the year, some speculated that AT&T would offer a deal to iPhone/AT&T customers at the hotspots. This was due in part to Starbucks' offering access to the iTunes store for free in certain locations.

AT&T Has Two Teams.

This is just my opinion mind ya.

Ever notice that AT&T has phone ads and they have iPhone adds, but never one that has both. So too it is with Press Releases. I think that both sides do know what the other is doing but that the iPhone team has to keep separate as part of their budget is subsidized by Apple. Just my rant and I am Sticking to it.

it sux

i have used the at&t free wifi in several locations around LA... usually the lame EDGE is faster and if i include the stupid logon process the EDGE is always faster just to look up one thing

AT&T Wireless at Starbucks

I picked up the AT&T welcome screen on my iPhone at Starbucks in Wisconsin last night and was able to log in.
