Apple To Make At Least $200 On Every iPad
It’s a well-known fact that Apple is raking it in from iPhone sales combined with subsides from phone carriers, so it’s safe to assume that they’ll try to do the same with the iPad. A recent report from BroadPoint AmTech analyst Brian Marshall shows that Apple will be making roughly $208 on the baseline $499 model iPad, and $446 on each $829 model one.
The report shows the cost of parts for the 16GB wifi model as around $270.50 or more. Most of that comes from the big beautiful multitouch screen, which costs Apple a hefty $100 or so, though they also save by using their own in-house A4 chips, which only cost them $15 per unit. That gives them a profit margin of 42.9% for that model.
The profit margins for the other models range from 48 to 55.1%, or around $50 on average.
While this may seem high compared to other devices, it’s about average in comparison to Apple’s other devices.
