Apple To Continue AT&T’s Exclusivity Partnership, Won’t Leave “Price Umbrella”
Much to the disappointment of iPhone users everywhere, Apple’s Tim Cook and Peter Oppenheimer stated today at Apple’s quarterly earnings call for Q2 that the company has no intentions to change their exclusivity partnership with AT&T. The executives said during the call that they believe AT&T has done well with promoting the iPhone, and that they hope to continue their partnership.
They also mentioned that the Verizon’s CDMA network was not compadable with the iPhone, possibly confirming claims by Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg, who said Apple may become more willing to partner with the network after widespread adoption of the 4G network protocol.
Lastly, they mentioned that they will avoid leaving a “price umbrella” for compeditors to sneak in, although some believe that this may mean a lower-cost iPhone.
