Apple Supported 3rd Party Applications Coming with Leopard?

Apple 2.0 is echoing many "Apple approved 3rd party applications are coming" reports, but they are providing a date. It is a known fact the Leopard- Apple's super hyped new operating system- is only weeks away and what would be better than providing some new iPhone applications as well?
EA has gained much popularity in the Mac community for its iPod and Mac games and reports are leaking that Apple has turned to them to create some touch based iPhone games. But, who will provide all the nifty applications that were available only moments ago? Well Apple 2.0 states:
There are signs that Steve Jobs may be set to open the iPhone up to outside programmers — or at least those who agree to obey his rules.
Many new iPhone competitors are appearing in the market, and quite a few have full third party application support. Though now quite as sleek and easy to use as the iPhone many potential customers need the additional applications.
Yesterday on Blackfriars' Marketing Blog a comment from Carl Howe was posted in regards to the iPhone developers:
Wait for the Leopard Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard release later this month before you write off the iPhone platform. Apple hasn’t shipped an SDK [software developers kit] yet, not because Apple is evil, but because the iPhone is a Leopard device.
Whether or not we see these new, or at least the possibility for new, native applications at the same time is Leopard is not known. It is known that the general public wants them and Apple has a good track record at fulfilling their customers demands.
