Apple Stores Now Opening At 8AM To Sell iPhone 3Gs

With all of the pent-up demand for the iPhone 3G, Apple is making some changes to help accommodate the huge increase in traffic. All Apple Stores are now permanently adopting their iPhone 3G launch hours, opening at 8am Monday through Saturday specifically to cater to people waiting for iPhone 3G's. Word is going around that they're also letting people reserve a phone to pick one up later that day when it's more convenient, in an attempt to spread traffic out more evenly during the day.

Apple posted the note on their availability page:

To accommodate demand for iPhone 3G, all Apple Retail Stores will now open at 8:00 a.m. every day but Sunday. We're also adding staff to help you get up and running as quickly as possible.

It probably won't actually help move the iPhone 3Gs because their main problem is their stock shortage, but it should help to improve the Apple Store experience.

good idea...

i went to my local Apple Store yesterday and there were STILL at least 40 people in line .Hopefully this will help shorten the line AND get the 3Gs out the door faster.
