Apple has announced that they have sold one million iPhone 3G's this weekend around the world. “iPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “It took 74 days to sell the first one million original iPhones, so the new iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world.”
The opening of the new App Store was equally successful. In the same time as the iPhone 3G, over 10 million apps have been downloaded from their App Store as of Sunday. It currently offers over 800 apps, 200 of which are free and most under $10.

What shocked me initially is 10M apps versus 1M phones. I'm was very suprised that it's an average of 10 apps per person until I realized that it's likely mostly free apps that were "downloaded". Still, that's great news for Apple. If they can get people into the store they can guarantee one hell of a revenue stream from apps going forward. It is so easy to purchase things. Some might argue (me) it's *too* easy.
