Apple Releases iPhone 3.0 To the General Public, Available Via iTunes

And... it's live! Apple has officially released iPhone 3.0 to the general public. It can be downloaded through iTunes by clicking the "Check for Updates" button in the iPhone source page. It's available for both original iPhone and iPhone 3G owners at no cost. iPod touch owners can get the update for $9.95.

In case you were curious, the version available in iTunes carries the same build number (7a341) as the GM developer seed.

This is a day I've been waiting for since I heard about the new update. Now I have to just get off work to get it. If I knew that the 3.0 software that was leaked last week was going to be the same that Apple released, I would have downloaded it. But all and all I'm happy it's finally here.

bluetooth audio is not that great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 years of waiting for this?

reason 1: every 20-30 seconds it hiccups...not cool at all
reason 2: it does not support MONO(if you hook up a headset that does not have A2DP you cant push audio to it. WTF?) i can listen to a phone call or vm but no MUSIC!!!!! bullsh1t

Come on apple, why cant you get it RIGHT.

Come on iphone 4.0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or at least 3.5 or something.

I still cant even hook up my Apple computer to my iPhone via bluetooth to transfer files.........or ANYTHING else.

hey, find a friend with an iPhone and plug in your touch to their iTunes and you get it for free. Apple started giving iPod Touch owners the update for free if they owned an iPod too.
plug in, click update and BAM, updated.
tested first hand by me cos I have both so I know it works

When i had the 3.0 GM my bluetooth was working, once i upgraded to the REAL 3.0 my bluetooth wont come on, the 10 seconds that it did come on, it wont connect to anything, and my wi-fi signal wont stay active. every 30 seconds or so it goes back to 3G when my signal is strong

3.0 SUCKS!!!

its the way apple impleminted the software. they made it way more complicated than it needed to be. the thought of having a list of bluetooth devices and choosing which one to send all audio to is apparently to difficult for apple to grasp. the phone bluetooth connection is DIFFERENT than the A2DP connection? LAME.

So i was just on the phone with ATT and they said that MMS wont be available till later this summer?!?!?! Kinda messed up. Hopefully she was jerking me around cause she couldn't figure out why

Bluetooth stereo. Works. Haven't had the issues as described.

Not too happy how Notes were implemented. I don't use Outlook apparently they sync there (and I don't have a mac....yet). So the note app will be the least used app still. I use it to store info that I need to recall later like account numbers or telecon meeting numbers....benign stuff.

Push Notifications. i don't know if these work for me....if anyone knows an App that currently has this feature let me know. So far all the advertised or demo'd apps don't work. Or I am just a moron and don't know how to turn it on.

this is correct.. NO MMS for ATT iphone owners until further notice/late summer. I didnt see anything signifficantly impressive about the update other than wanting MMS and if i cant have it now, i think i'll wait and keep my jailbroken 2.2.1 version. theres always bugs in the first release of new firmware anyway.. i'm sure we'll see several pissed off posts within the next few days..

I think Beejive IM updated their software for push notifications. Check it out.

so far the 3.0 GM release worked better than the so called real version.

once i upgraded, my bluetooth wont turn on, the tethering hack will not work, my wi-fi cuts in and out.

Store passwords?

Maybe I'm "special" but I can't figure out how safari saves my passwords so I don't have to put them in everytime. That was 1/4 my giddiness of 3.0. Also. Couldn't we make things linkable? i.e. click on a map link in the location on calendar and it opens up in maps? or did i make this up?

Go to Settings --> Safari

But it its for autofill for things like your name email and such. Password have always saved...or they have for me. Though sometimes if I haven't been there in a while the password will be gone.

As for calendar links...no idea. Would be nice. especially with active phone numbers in meeting appointments. Palm/blackberry have this. Just used to it, not griping.

Yeah. Makes sense. So, lets say I have a special username and password for my credit union, but the username is not my name...do I still need to put this in? I don't use safari, should I so it syncs stored passwords? Thanks for your posts.

Now someone smarter then me may have a better answer but if its a bank they aren't allowed to let you store your user name. In fact its law with increase security over internet banking.

Anythying else is pretty much a web cookie...hmmm...cookies.....

sorry. hungry. But still there may be a way cuz using the autofill is just loading a contact which then becomes the form safari pulls from. It may work if you build a credit union contact and load it in.....didn't do it, don't claim it will work, but unless the bank stops it (which they may be) it should be easy to figure out a work around.

Beejive hadn't yet. At least it doesn't say so in the store under thier upgrade features. AP News did....but I had to uninstall the app then redownload the whole thing to get it to come on. So yeah...notifications are there.

I will do this to Beejive as soon as people stop hitting the server. Keeps timing out on me. HA!

Bluetooth, works great and I went with the public release. Could it be your device? WiFi is very very finicky. Not all work the same. If I had a dime every time my router did stoopid crap. I did try out about 3 sets at Best Buy and they all seemed to work fine. Just saying before nailing the device make sure the periphery isn't at fault.

my other items that are hooked up wirelessly are just fine, and my iphone was just fine til this morning when i updated. the signal is full strength anywhere in my house. Bluetooth will not even turn on, it tries but just keeps going back to the off position. its still under warranty so maybe ill get a new one out of this...

to fix the wifi issue try turning 3g on and off it seems to work

This one just doesn't make sense to me...
Apple added spotlight to email, so you would think you would be able to search and destroy lots of emails at a time like for me it's emails from facebook.
You can search for them, but that's it. You can read them, but you can't move or delete them or anything...seems like some one dropped the ball on this one...what do you think? Do you think they knew or do you think they just looked over it?

So, randomly today, the icons for MMS showed up on my 3GS. MMS still doesn't work, but the icons are there.
