Apple Releases Instructions And Details On $100 Apple Store Credit

in

For those of you still upset about the $200 price change, Apple has released details on how to get that $100 in Apple online or retail credit. If you bought it before August 22, you might be eligible. To receive your credit, just follow these easy steps.

Step 1: Identify your iPhone
To confirm eligibility, simply enter your phone number and iPhone serial number in the fields provided.

Step 2: Enter your access code
You will receive an SMS text message on your iPhone containing the access code to redeem your $100 credit. Enter your phone number and your access code in the fields provided to generate an electronic store credit.

Step 3: Get your $100 Apple Store credit
You will receive a $100 electronic store credit to purchase products at the Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store.

Of course, you can't expect Apple to give away money with out a hefty heap of Terms and Conditions. All requests must be submitted by November 30, 2007. Also, prior to submitting the claim, you must activate the iPhone with AT&T. You have to wait at least 24 hours after activation to submit your claim. This could pose a problem for those hoping to unlock it in the near future.

But that's not all. There is literally a mountain of fine print, which I suggest anyone who plans on participating reads carefully.

And if you're planning on trying to rip off Apple somehow and score a few extra bucks, don't. Not only is it wrong, but Apple reserves the right to deny or disregard any claim deemed to be false or fraudulent, so you'll probably just be wasting your time.

You can get the full list of instructions and read the rest of the Terms and Conditions here, as well as some Frequently Asked Questions.

Update: Some users have reported that if you've had your iPhone replaced by Apple via AppleCare, you may need to use your original serial number, and not your current one. This information can be found on the original iPhone's box, or your original receipt. This may not be the case for everyone, though. We've gotten the rebate using a replacement iPhone's serial. Your mileage may vary.

Going to use my credit for Leopard!!!

yay my wife just bought a new ipod and i made her take it back so i could use my credit when i got it

wow that is by far the easiest rebate i have ever done, it took me longer to figure out what my serial number was cuz its so tiny than to get the rebate info!

You can see it also in in settings > about

ya i shoulda looked there, those little 0's look like O's

4g refund

very nice. i bought two 4g iphones on 8/24, and i fell within apple's price protection policy, they refunded me $200 for one phone, and because the second phone was a 4g refurb, they refunded me $150. i also asked about the itunes wifi store, they said although there has been no official press release, that we could all bet on first week of october.

jawbone on its way! thanks apple :-)

Very cool! Very easy to get the credit... good job Apple!

I would if i could, but its in the terms of the apple store. You can't use the store credit to buy either an apple store gift card or an itunes gift card.

Thats $100 more dollars off my MacBook Pro. Of course, I am waiting for Leopard to be released so I won't have to buy that too.

My rebate didnt work!

Well mine hasnt worked. I wrote them an email. I got my phone the day it came out. This is B.S. First they screw me on the drop in price and now they pull this crap.

When I bought my iPhone on the day it came out. I activated it with a new number. I then transfered my old number over. So my serial number was linked to the phone number that at&t had given me. I had that number for only about an hour.

So upon further review of trying to get my 100 credit it didnt work. So I decided to write them and email explaining my situation. I also then went into the local Apple store and they issued me a 100 gift card.

Well the next day I recieve an email back and now my 100 credit is issued to me.

So my question is can I get into trouble for their mistake? And if not I might as well use both.. haha

Well, you could probably get away with it, but it's really a moral question more than anything else
