Apple Posts iPhone Update 1.1.2

in

Apple has posted iPhone software update version 1.1.2 tonight to its software update server. The update, according to the read me, "includes additional new features, bug fixes and supersedes all previous versions". Currently the update has not been made available via iTunes and so it must be downloaded directly and opened manually. Along with some minor tweaks, the most significant change is an exploit patch which breaks the auto-jailbreak site, Jailbreakme.com

Besides crippling the Safari TIFF exploit which Jailbreakme.com uses, the new update adds a few minor features as well. iPhone now shows its battery charge status right inside the iTunes window and sports an international keyboard (finally). In addition to the international keyboard, the "slide for emergency" dialogue will now show up in the user's localized language. Modem software has also been updated.

We have not confirmed if iFuntastic's jailbreak method still works. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Argh!!

I read earlier today that the software update 1.1.2 would be out tomorrow. I had used jailbreakme.com on my iPhone when I first found out about the site, and had a problem with some applications I installed with it crash whenever I launched them. I read that there was a new version of it and that I would need to restore my iPhone and jailbreak it again to get the new software which would fix the aforementioned problem. I thought I'd better go ahead and do that before the new iPhone software came out tomorrow, but when I went to restore my iPhone, I was forced in the middle of the process to upgrade to 1.1.2. Now, I read that the new version does in fact block the jailbreakme.com hack. I'm going to miss my 3rd party apps, especially Navizon's GPS software, which has been great for my trip to Florida and Key West. At least my boyfriend's iPod touch is still jailbroken. I did that for him so he could install a fix for the calendar in order to add events, which he has really enjoyed.

Option-Restore

maybe you should try to downgrade to 1.1.1 or 1.0.2 version. that may help.

I know it's possible to downgrade the iPhone software, but I can't find out how to go from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1. I am only able to find directions for downgrading to 1.0.2 and I don't want to do that. If anyone knows, please pass it on.

does it take the apps of of your phone

im trying a control update to see if it doesnt wipe my apps off

it does kill your apps even if you update time to wait for the new unlock

Why not downgrade to 1.0.2 and then find a link that lets you upgrade to 1.1.1? Same result.

I am trying to do that, but I can't find 1.1.1, if you have any leads please share them.

I successfully went from 1.1.2 to 1.0.2, but I can't find 1.1.1 anywhere.
