Apple Patent Points Towards Multitouch Tactile Keyboard for Future Devices
A recently-unearthed Apple patent application for a multitouch tactile keyboard reveals plans for a device that would feature a dynamic surface to help users keep track of their relative position on the board. Interestingly enough, the device’s surface would incorporate an “articulating frame”, which would raise and retract bumps in order to recreate the feel of typing on a conventional keyboard. Currently, it’s anyone’s guess as to where this would be used, albeit current speculation is pointing towards incorporating this within the long-awaited tablet device. The tablet is rumored to be announced on January 26th at an Apple media event at Apple’s Yerba Buena Arts Center in San Francisco, California.
