Apple Now Selling iPhones with No Contract, Not Unlocked
Rumors began today that Apple would begin selling iPhones in the U.S. without an AT&T contract and possibly unlocked. One rumor was confirmed earlier by Gizmodo with an official response from Apple (below), but the speculation of the phones being unlocked turned out to be false.
Effective immediately, customers can purchase one iPhone per day at full price without proof of an AT&T contract or any form of ID. Full price of the phone is $499 for the 8GB iPhone 3G, $599 for the 16GB iPhone 3GS, and $699 for the 32GB iPhone 3GS. The deal limits customers to one phone per day, with a maximum of 10 total.
