Apple Job Posting Looks to Improve Siri Dialog in a Number of Ways

It was a little over a year ago when Apple debuted Siri on the iPhone 4S. At its start, Siri was able to assist iPhone 4S users by checking the weather for them, changing their schedule on the fly and setting up alarms when a mid-day nap was in order.

Since then, everyone’s favorite pocket assistant has made its way to more iOS devices, like the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini, and received a number of improvements that allowed it to give information on sports, movies and even being able to find restaurants and reserving a table for you.

It looks as though that was just the beginning as a new job listing on Apple’s online career portal is hinting at better dialog options. That is, of course, if they find the right candidate for the position.

The job listing posted on Apple’s online career portal is very specific in regards to what kind of candidate they’re looking for to help improve Siri:

“We’re looking for a uniquely creative individual to help us evolve and enrich Siri, our virtual personal assistant. Siri’s known for ‘her’ wit, cultural knowledge and zeal to explain things in engaging, funny and practical ways. The ideal candidate is someone who combines a love for language, wordplay and conversation with demonstrated experience in bringing creative content to life within an intense technical environment.”

Siri already does a pretty good job at offering decent conversation, especially when you ask it to marry you or ask if it’s real. But hiring someone with “a love for language, wordplay and conversation” will certainly boost the amount of fun responses we can expect out of Siri in the future. Let’s just hope Siri will also familiarize herself with the Internet’s love for cats as we expect daily updates from her on Lil Bub and Grumpy Cat, if not hourly updates.
