Apple Handsets Create Majority Of Mobile Web Traffic Worldwide
AdMob, the number one server of in-app advertising that was recently purchased by Google, is saying that the iPhone is still number one in terms of mobile web usage. Their latest study says Apple’s handsets account for more than half of usage from handsets by all companies worldwide (note: that’s half of all web browsing being done on mobile devices, not necessarily half of all devices).
The study breaks it down by location, showing that it’s more popular in some regions than others. For example, Nokia is in the lead in Africa and Asia, while the iPhone is doing better in North America and Western Europe.
Google’s Android OS is working it’s way up, taking 27% in North America and 16% worldwide.
You can download the full text of the study from AdMob in the form of a PDF, if you’re in to that kind of thing.
