Apple Gaining Ground In Teenage Mindshare
Piper Jaffray released the results of their bi-annual Teen Survey, in which they visited several highschool across the country, surveying students on their interests and buying patters on portable music players, online music, and the iPhone.
The resut of their study was that “Apple’s dominance in the consumer electronics and online music markets is going seemingly unchecked,” analyst Gene Munster told clients in a report outlying the study’s findings. “We believe that the teen demographic is a critical component of long-term growth in the digital music and mobile markets.”
Of the 796 students they surveyed, 8% said they owned an iPhone, and 22% said they planned to purchase one in the next 22 months. Further more, of the students who claimed to add a mobile phone to their list of things they wanted to buy, 33% said an iPhone.
