Apple Announces 300 Million App Store Downloads, 10,000th App Confirmed

Not long after 10,000 apps became available in the App Store for download, Apple revealed that 300 million apps have been downloaded from the App Store for the iPhone and iPod touch. The news was revealed in the form of online advertisements placed on the Wall Street Journal and New York Times webpages, information that had not been previously revealed to the public.

They also confirm that the App Store has passed the 10,000 mark for apps available for download at this time. Officially, the App Store contains over 10,000 apps, confirming confirmation of the landmark.

The App Store has continued to grow in inventory and popularity steadily since it's release on July 11th, 2008. As of their last earnings report in October, Apple reported (almost) 200 million downloads from what was then 5,500 apps.
