Apple Adds Bug Fixes, New Features To MobileMe

Apple has added a couple of improvements to their cloud service, MobileMe, adding improvements to Mail, Gallery, iDisk, account settings, push contacts, and calenders, and Back to My Mac. Among the changes are the ability to forward or reply to an HTML or rich text message while retaining the format instead of converting to plain text.

Other changes include:

  • Unread message count is displayed next to the inbox as well as each individual folder
  • fix for improperly displayed email aliases
  • iPhone OS 3.0 users gain search messages on MobileMe server along with those stored on the device
  • Gallery updated to handle publishing video shot on iPhone 3GS
  • New albums created automatically when publishing photos or videos and no album exists
  • iDisk icon in MobileMe now matches the icon for the promised iDisk iPhone app
  • Fix for displaying completion status during uploading files to a public folder via the browser
  • fix for email addresses not being recognized during setup for a file share
  • Account Settings has a new icon to look more like the iPhone settings icon
  • Fix for custom iWeb domain names
  • Ability to convert expired accounts to Family Pack sub-accounts
  • Any active account with no upgrades can now be converted to a Family Pack sub-account
  • First sync of an OS 3.0 iPhone now includes option to merge existing contacts and calendars with those on the cloud
  • Deleting MobileMe account or turning off sync will now keep a copy of the most recent sync on the device
  • iPhone now retains custom ringtones after syncing with MobileMe
  • Connections between computers in Back to My Mac in Mac OS X 10.5.7 no longer have to sign in to the remote machine using a login and password. MobileMe now handle’s the authentication.
