App Store Volume Purchasing for Businesses, Coming Soon
The Blackberry is undoubtedly still winning among most businesses. Apart from its reliable hardware and steadily built name, the Blackberry boasts a various amount of features that appeal to the likes of companies. However, Apple’s taking their first step to compete; coming soon is the volume purchasing program for businesses within the United States.
This new feature, which will soon be available, simplifies the process of purchasing applications in bulk. At the moment, you can only buy applications one at a time – think about how long that would take for a large corporation with thousands of employees! From Apple’s newest website dedicated to this new feature:
“Whether you’re providing apps to two employees or ten thousand, the Volume Purchase Program makes it simple to find, buy, and distribute the apps your business needs.
The Volume Purchase Program also provides a way to purchase custom B2B apps built by third-party developers to meet the unique needs of your business.
The Volume Purchase Program for Business is coming soon to businesses in the United States.”
You can use the website, once it opens for real, to search for needed applications, enter the amount you will be purchasing and then you’ll be given a redeem code (much like a promo code) that you can use to distribute the application. To sign up, you just need to create a volume purchasing account with Apple with your contact information, for verification purposes, your company’s Dun & Bradstreet number (D-U-N-S) and a corporate credit card that can be billed for purchases.
Could this be the first step for Apple in making the iPhone a more business-friendly phone (not that it currently isn’t)? Is this something you or your company would look in to?
