App Store Access To Require Additional Activation Process?

Italian news site setteB.IT claims to have learned that the iPhone 3G activation process in the US may be slightly more complex than previously expected. While the in-store activation policy is far less convenient than the previous iTunes activation process, users wanting to access the App Store will be required to register an account in order to do so. If this process is also required to be done on site, it could add further complexity to the already cumbersome process. (However, they may make it able to be done at home through iTunes, posing little inconvenience.)

Really...

I doubt the 'binding to an account' will work much differently than binding to an iTunes Music Store account under the current system does. I'd actually place good money that the App Store account will BE the iTunes Music Store account, and thus that it would be linked up with the phone during synchronization through iTunes. If not in precisely the same process as the Music Store, at least a similar one.
