‘Angry Birds Rio’ is the Free App of the Week
“What happens when everyone’s favorite fierce fowl get caged and shipped to Rio? They get very angry!”
This news–from the iTunes description of Angry Birds Rio–might make some birds less angry: Apple and Rovio Entertainment have joined forces to make the latter’s wildly successful game free of charge for a limited time: it is, happily for some, the Free App of the Week.
Normally $0.99, iPhone users can download the game from the App Store free of charge for a limited time.
This installment of the Angry Birds series offers six episodes, 180 levels and 24 bonus levels, according to the product page. Fans of the game will also enjoy new achievements and “special hidden fruits,” according to the list of features.
Although the game is–for the moment–free of charge, and normally just under a dollar, there is a unique opportunity to spend even more money. If a user gets stuck, the Mighty Eagle, an “in-app” purchase, may be purchased for an additional $0.99.
What is a Mighty Eagle? The game’s authors describe it as “a phenomenal creature [that] will soar from the skies to wreak havoc and smash the pesky pigs into oblivion.”
As with most anything in life, however, there is a catch: a player “can only use the aid of Mighty Eagle to pass a level once per hour.” Still, such a feature could prove quite useful to a player who can’t quite defeat a certain level.
With the game being temporarily free, there is literally nothing to lose by trying it out. The Angry Birds franchise has proven to be a successful one, and it could prove to be quite addictive. Honestly, who can resist those cute little birds?
Even when they’re at their most furious, those birds who have such anger in their hearts are just so adorable.
