Activation Servers Bogging Down, May Take 42 Hours

Several users in the US are reporting problems activating their new iPhone 3G Ss for use. A message displayed for many users during the activation process suggests that it could be as much as 48 hours before the activations go through. Some users have had some luck calling AT&T and having a representative help them get it activated, while others weren't so lucky.

The error message:

Due to current iPhone activation volumes, it may take up to 48 hours to resolve your issue. We will send a confirmation to {e-mail address redacted} once your activation is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. You can set up your iPhone and enjoy features that do not require access to the AT&T network. To get started, please disconnect and then reconnect your iPhone.

Wow imagine waiting in line to buy your phone, dropping $300 and not being able to use it. I would be slightly upset.

Or, if you've bought one every year since they came out, you're used to it ;-)

I bought one everytime on day one and have never experienced a problem. I wonder if its location sensitive.

This is great, this just tells me that there are more iPhone users. I want to see everyone with an iPhone so hopefully we can get better programs and unity because so changes need to be made at AT&T.
