3GS Supplies Running Low At U.S. Apple Stores

If you're hoping to get an iPhone 3GS soon, you might want to hurry, because they're going fast. Apple published an availability checker for checking available inventory at their various retail locations. At the time, roughly 90% of the listed locations still had inventory of all four models, but over the weekend this has decreased to around 40-45%, and 15% of stores are completely sold out, which includes the entire states of Alabama, Oregon and Utah.

Whoa. Way to freak me out. I'm going to the AT&T (not Apple) store to try to get my subsidized upgrade in 1 hour! Now I'm worried they might not have one for me.

I'm sure Apple is doing this intentionally to counter ultrasn0w and the impending 3G S jailbreak.

Of course they're sold out in Utah. Utah has 1 Apple Store for the entire state. I went this morning and there was a line of people waiting for the 3GS. I appreciated that mine was shipped to me.

For the record, and slightly offtopic, the AT&T store was not only completely out but they said they only had the iPhone 3GS on launch day and that was it! I ended up having to go to the Apple store after all.
