iFuntastic Auto-Jailbreaks iPhone v1.1.1, Rocks My Socks

iFuntastic time, ladies and gentleman. BitSplit, the man behind iFuntastic, has announced that version 4.6.1 is now available. This new version, along with various other improvements, makes it super easy to jailbreak the latest iPhone software version. Once jailbroken, an iPhone is able to freely load and run third party applications and mods. On top of simply jailbreaking v1.1.1, iFuntastic can now crop and add custom ringtones.

You may remember the guide we published a while back which outlined how to jailbreak a v1.1.1 iPhone. It was quite a few steps and required some terminal knowledge. Not for the non-geek by any stretch of the imagination. Thankfully, bitSplit has come up with a very simple way to perform the same steps, and in half the time.

To jailbreak, you may either start from version 1.0.2 or 1.1.1. iFuntastic will perform the necessary steps and prompt you for any necessary actions. Once complete, you can enjoy the benefits of third party apps and an improved iPhone.

Ringtones have also gotten a significant update. Now you can easily add your own custom ringtones to v1.1.1, no unshackling required! You may choose to either upload an audio file in its entirety, or use the built-in ringtone cropper to non-destructively customize any audio file for ringtone use. If you're short on ringtones or creativity, grab a few from ThemeMyPhone.com

Changes since last version:

- customized ringtone support for 1.1.1 (unshackling not required)

new functions for Intel and PowerPC:

- Downgrade firmware 1.1.1 to firmware 1.0.2
- Upgrade firmware 1.0.2 to unshackled firmware 1.1.1
- Unshackle firmware 1.1.1: combines the above two

The process is tricky, but it only requires patience and a ridiculous number of (automated) restarts and switches to iTunes and back.
Terminal, SSH, WiFi, CyberDuck, AppTapp, Installer, iNdependence:
none are required!

A wizard will guide you through each process.
You'll end up with an unshackled 1.1.1 phone, with Installer uh, installed -
ready to customize and install native applications and ringtones.

- combined Setup and Troubleshooting pages into one simplified page
- automated phone restart and recovery/dfu modes: no more need to hold down buttons!
(well, except on PowerPC - and when things go wrong...)

iFuntastic requires a Mac running OS X 10.4.9 or greater and is compatible with iTunes 7.4.1,2 and iPhone Firmware 1.0.2 & 1.1.1.

If you have installed a previous version, you may need to remove the "TempFiles1" folder from "/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/bitSplit Enterprises/iFuntastic" for this version to work properly.

You may download your copy of iFuntastic v4.6.1 here, courtesy of Twenty08.

Of note, iFuntastic is now a shareware program. Each function allows five free uses before a $5 fee is requested.

Enjoy!

err windows??

windows users

Is there anything out there for windows users? Thanks.

does it do activation as well?

activate

i do not want ATT.
Can i use iNdepenence to activate then ifuntastic to do the jailbreaking and installing?

How about for windows???

Just Get It

Why dont you stop complaining and get AT&T

You should be able to activate using iNdepenence during the "Activate" step. Just don't close iTunes while you're doing it because that's how iFuntastic knows to move on.

"Option-Restore" ??

I am trying to unlock 1.1.1 and one of the steps says to Option-Restore from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2 and wait for the error. I don't see this anywhere??? It also isn't identifying my iTunes version?

help...

BitSplit,
Thanks for this.

Looser

Where the fuck do you get iFuntastic

watch your language A but B hte the link right below

Things working good

Ran the 1.02 to 1.1.1 upgrade through iFuntastic and everything worked perfectly with no real issues. Had to un-install and re-install all my apptapp apps, but that went fine for everything but SSH.

what is this HAVING to pay business. im not cool with that.

That shows up in iTunes when your iPhone is connected.Click "Device>iPhone" on the left panel. Then click "Summary" in the center iTunes panel. To the right of version it says "Update" and "Restore". Press Option on your keyboard and click on Restore. You will then have to navigate to the 1.0.2 update in your user library>iTunes/iPhone software updates folder.

I know I can't spell.

It is more fun that way it just really pisses me of when people post all this info about a program with know decernable link to said program it is lacking in intuitiveness and forsight. ( as you can see my gramar sucks too)

Good, but not perfect

While this is great news, we should not have to pay for the 1.0.2 -> unshackled 1.1.1 feature. This is the main function of the software, which is free. Don't call the software free if you have to pay to use it's main function. If anybody knows of a way to use this feature after five days without paying, let me know. Otherwise, I'm sticking iNdpendence.

Hacking in progress

Okay, I'm still in process as I type this, but I had the same issue. It didn't know what version I was running (1.1.1) so I just selected that version. In the meantime, I downloaded 1.0.2 from here: http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite....8_Restore.ipsw

Then when you're in recovery mode and iTunes wants you to restore, you okay through that but instead of clicking on Restore, hold down the option key and click restore and navigate to where you saved 1.0.2 and attempt to restore. You'll get that error message and you can follow the rest of the directions. Well... at least I THINK you can. I'm working on the rest of that now... But so far so good. It's just now installed the iFuntastic support and doing its thing so I think it will work...

grrrr

i waited to upgrade my iphone to 1.11 and thought this was the time. ifuntastic gives you a limited number of tries for free. my iphone failed a few times and now i'm stuck with a locked upgraded iphone. grrrr... and where is the support for this app??!!

When I am in DFU mode and I attempt to option click to choose the 1.0.2 update the screen on my phone goes blank and stays lit, the restore fails right away and I never get past that point.. any ideas what is going wrong? I have been having the same problem downgrading before ifuntastic as well...

can anyone verify this method succeeded in an automated jailbreak?

uh oh. problems...

I hate to be that guy posting problems, but I would love a solution cause right now I have a defunct iphone. (brick i guess)

So I tried to do the infuntastic upgrade to an unshackled 1.1.1, as i had kept my 3rd party apped (NOT unlocked) 1.0.2.

That failed a couple times. SO i restored my 1.0.2 to 1.0.2. and then ifuntastic went about its business. When i was updating to 1.1.1 through itunes (via infuntastics instructions), it wouldn't update. Now I'm stuck with a phone that wont restore and its constantly giving me the "iphone" could not be restored - error 1011 problem.

All i can get on my iphone is a pretty picture of a cord connecting to itunes and thats about it. Can't restore. Etc. I've never unlocked the phone, only added 3rd party apps and summerboard.

If i futz around in ifuntastic, I can get it to a point where it says, iphone needs service, needs a proper SIM (despite the fact that the right SIM is in there).

So it wont activate and is usually stuck in recovery mode. I feel like somehow along the way, the hardware got messed up. I have no interest in unlocking the phone, I just want to be able to get to 1.1.1 and jailbreak it.

Please let me know what can be done.

At this point, Ive gone through trouble shooting with Apple, they said to take it into a store for a replacement. Should I be skeptical, will they turn down my request tomorrow even tho I've been told I can get a replacement? Is there anything else I can do?

Thanks so much for your help.

also

i'm considering checking out some of the programs to downgrade the baseband etc.

there was never a proper upgrade to 1.1.1, as it sorta broke in the middle. but old restores wont work and new restores wont work, im considering just downloading all I can to sorta reflash the baseband. but i dont want my phone unlocked. is there a way to do all this to preserve the locked factor and also preserve my IMEI, i dont want that changed as well..

again, sorry for the problems...

Worked Great

iMac G5 without the iSight (a little old school)

This worked perfectly, the directions are rather clear. I went from 1.1.1v to 1.0.2v to 1.1.1v jailbroke, eat it Apple! Only thing is, how long is this going to last?

Awesome

Ok love the program, and for all you people out there that dont want at&t it truely is the best network have you seen the coverage once you actually get it it is amazing.

Upgraded to 1.1.1 - just fine. Then when IFuntastic was supposed to jailbreak, it didn't work. Now I've got a regular 1.1.1 that won't jailbreak.

Don't upgrade your phone to 1.1.1 and then expect this software to work.

Et tu, iFuntastic? Et tu?

I had absolutely no problem with it. I was able to take my virgin 1.1.1 iPhone and unshackle it. Just make sure you follow the instructions. They're there for a reason!

The suggestion that I failed to follow the "dummy downed" instructions and, therefore, it was user error that resulted in the bad jailbreak attempts is a bit insulting. The step-by-step instruction is simple. The result is not. I've paid my 25 bucks and I'm waiting for my unlock code. Time will tell whether this hack works or whether you are just a poser trying to sucker more people into paying 25 bucks.

and to top it all off - AT&T is not processing any activations at this time.

iFun - not so fun. Everyone who hasn't upgraded: save your money, time and sanity and don't use this program. It's not there, yet. I feel abused.

None of theapplications work on my computer and now I can't update my iPod to sync with iTunes!!!!!!! How I get my iPod to work without needing all the third party apps??? I just want my iPod to work again!!!!!!

What!!

Ifuntastic is no longer a free program, you have 5 free uses then you have to pay. My problem was i had issues installing so it used my 5 free trys and then my phone got stuck where it could not communicate with itunes. i had to go to ifuntastic 3.5.5 and do a restore to get my iphone to communicate.......not good.

Problem with activation

Hi, I can't re activate my iphone!! The Itunes screen said 'IPhone activations are unavailable at this time' I have been testing by one hour and always said the same message! Someone who knows what can I do?

IPhone activations are unavailable at this time

Has anyone figure out why is this happening and should we be worried?

Use Independence to jailbreak and update for free. The instructions in the Independence help files are pretty easy. Worked for me.

Thank you,
Finally, I restore the Iphone, and after several times, I can activated it!, but with the 1.1.1 firmware... tomorrow I'll try again.

downgrade process

So I want to downgrade from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2. in the 15 min process i basically time out and i get a window saying click continue if up on up otherwise click cancel. I click continue and goes back to trying to unschakle the iphone. Seconds try and it goes the same windows. Is there something else this suppose to do or im just not able to do it.
No it says it may take a few time. I TRIED THEM...
thank you.

For everyone having trouble with running out of free tries, I have a way around the limit. Close iFuntastic and iTunes. Rename the "Shared" folder inside /Users to something like Shared_

Open iTunes and then open iFuntastic. iTunes makes a new "Shared" folder and iFuntastic will have all the free tries back.

You don't want to get rid of that original "Shared" folder because there are important things in there like iTunes purchase info.

Ipod

Does this work for the iPod Touch?

iPod touch is mentioned as an option so it's very possible

Can you point me to instructions for how to activate?

thanks

i tried it with my ipod touch and it keeps saying it cant connect to it.
theres no troubles with my touch or the usb cause i can sync fine with it in itunes so dunno whats up with ifuntastic. anyone else got this issue?
and the only reason i want this is to use the file manager because i dont have wifi...

Uggh!

That stink that you have to buy this! You use up your five free times quickly! Kind of annoying!
I'll just have to wait till a better way comes out!

Yes there is.... a macbook pro.

Wtf?

This is not working for everyone...including me. It is a scam. DO NOT use this if you want 3rd Party Apps. All it did was upgrade to 1.1.1 and won't proceed. Complete BS!

update the os on your mac....check if u have the latest version of i tunes....then it will work

this worked for me on the 2nd try (second, because itunes crashed during the first go). there were a few scary moments, but after about 20 minutes, i had a perfectly usable 1.1.1 (with AT&T) along with 3rd party apps. pretty happy here

Well it's working wonderfully for me. I downgraded to 1.0.2 at work yesterday afternoon and had iFuntastic working.

I went home and tried to upgrade to 1.1.1. Problems occured, such as iPhone with a screen of a cord wanting to be attached to iTunes. I tried a few times to rectify this to no avail. SO I RESTARTED MY iMAC AND TRIED AGAIN. It worked beautifully!!

I'm back to having a really fun iPhone. Damn, this thing is cool!

If you get flustered, try a restart. It worked for me.

too many windows people

Get an iMac. This is cool, I can't wait to jailbreak it once again. Kinda weird...mail stopped working on my phone after the update. AAPL at 186!!!! http://www.everything-macs.com
