iFuntastic Auto-Jailbreaks iPhone v1.1.1, Rocks My Socks
![]()
iFuntastic time, ladies and gentleman. BitSplit, the man behind iFuntastic, has announced that version 4.6.1 is now available. This new version, along with various other improvements, makes it super easy to jailbreak the latest iPhone software version. Once jailbroken, an iPhone is able to freely load and run third party applications and mods. On top of simply jailbreaking v1.1.1, iFuntastic can now crop and add custom ringtones.
You may remember the guide we published a while back which outlined how to jailbreak a v1.1.1 iPhone. It was quite a few steps and required some terminal knowledge. Not for the non-geek by any stretch of the imagination. Thankfully, bitSplit has come up with a very simple way to perform the same steps, and in half the time.

To jailbreak, you may either start from version 1.0.2 or 1.1.1. iFuntastic will perform the necessary steps and prompt you for any necessary actions. Once complete, you can enjoy the benefits of third party apps and an improved iPhone.
Ringtones have also gotten a significant update. Now you can easily add your own custom ringtones to v1.1.1, no unshackling required! You may choose to either upload an audio file in its entirety, or use the built-in ringtone cropper to non-destructively customize any audio file for ringtone use. If you're short on ringtones or creativity, grab a few from ThemeMyPhone.com

Changes since last version:
- customized ringtone support for 1.1.1 (unshackling not required)
new functions for Intel and PowerPC:
- Downgrade firmware 1.1.1 to firmware 1.0.2
- Upgrade firmware 1.0.2 to unshackled firmware 1.1.1
- Unshackle firmware 1.1.1: combines the above twoThe process is tricky, but it only requires patience and a ridiculous number of (automated) restarts and switches to iTunes and back.
Terminal, SSH, WiFi, CyberDuck, AppTapp, Installer, iNdependence:
none are required!A wizard will guide you through each process.
You'll end up with an unshackled 1.1.1 phone, with Installer uh, installed -
ready to customize and install native applications and ringtones.- combined Setup and Troubleshooting pages into one simplified page
- automated phone restart and recovery/dfu modes: no more need to hold down buttons!
(well, except on PowerPC - and when things go wrong...)
iFuntastic requires a Mac running OS X 10.4.9 or greater and is compatible with iTunes 7.4.1,2 and iPhone Firmware 1.0.2 & 1.1.1.
If you have installed a previous version, you may need to remove the "TempFiles1" folder from "/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/bitSplit Enterprises/iFuntastic" for this version to work properly.
Of note, iFuntastic is now a shareware program. Each function allows five free uses before a $5 fee is requested.
Enjoy!

Then when you're in recovery mode and iTunes wants you to restore, you okay through that but instead of clicking on Restore, hold down the option key and click restore and navigate to where you saved 1.0.2 and attempt to restore. You'll get that error message and you can follow the rest of the directions. Well... at least I THINK you can. I'm working on the rest of that now... But so far so good. It's just now installed the iFuntastic support and doing its thing so I think it will work...
grrrr
uh oh. problems...
So I tried to do the infuntastic upgrade to an unshackled 1.1.1, as i had kept my 3rd party apped (NOT unlocked) 1.0.2.
That failed a couple times. SO i restored my 1.0.2 to 1.0.2. and then ifuntastic went about its business. When i was updating to 1.1.1 through itunes (via infuntastics instructions), it wouldn't update. Now I'm stuck with a phone that wont restore and its constantly giving me the "iphone" could not be restored - error 1011 problem.
All i can get on my iphone is a pretty picture of a cord connecting to itunes and thats about it. Can't restore. Etc. I've never unlocked the phone, only added 3rd party apps and summerboard.
If i futz around in ifuntastic, I can get it to a point where it says, iphone needs service, needs a proper SIM (despite the fact that the right SIM is in there).
So it wont activate and is usually stuck in recovery mode. I feel like somehow along the way, the hardware got messed up. I have no interest in unlocking the phone, I just want to be able to get to 1.1.1 and jailbreak it.
Please let me know what can be done.
At this point, Ive gone through trouble shooting with Apple, they said to take it into a store for a replacement. Should I be skeptical, will they turn down my request tomorrow even tho I've been told I can get a replacement? Is there anything else I can do?
Thanks so much for your help.
also
there was never a proper upgrade to 1.1.1, as it sorta broke in the middle. but old restores wont work and new restores wont work, im considering just downloading all I can to sorta reflash the baseband. but i dont want my phone unlocked. is there a way to do all this to preserve the locked factor and also preserve my IMEI, i dont want that changed as well..
again, sorry for the problems...
Worked Great
This worked perfectly, the directions are rather clear. I went from 1.1.1v to 1.0.2v to 1.1.1v jailbroke, eat it Apple! Only thing is, how long is this going to last?
Awesome
Don't upgrade your phone to 1.1.1 and then expect this software to work.
Et tu, iFuntastic? Et tu?

iFun - not so fun. Everyone who hasn't upgraded: save your money, time and sanity and don't use this program. It's not there, yet. I feel abused.
What!!
Problem with activation
Thank you,
IPhone activations are unavailable at this time

Problem solved
Thank you,
downgrade process
No it says it may take a few time. I TRIED THEM...
thank you.
Open iTunes and then open iFuntastic. iTunes makes a new "Shared" folder and iFuntastic will have all the free tries back.
You don't want to get rid of that original "Shared" folder because there are important things in there like iTunes purchase info.
Ipod
Can you point me to instructions for how to activate?
thanks

theres no troubles with my touch or the usb cause i can sync fine with it in itunes so dunno whats up with ifuntastic. anyone else got this issue?
and the only reason i want this is to use the file manager because i dont have wifi...
Uggh!
I'll just have to wait till a better way comes out!
Wtf?
I went home and tried to upgrade to 1.1.1. Problems occured, such as iPhone with a screen of a cord wanting to be attached to iTunes. I tried a few times to rectify this to no avail. SO I RESTARTED MY iMAC AND TRIED AGAIN. It worked beautifully!!
I'm back to having a really fun iPhone. Damn, this thing is cool!
If you get flustered, try a restart. It worked for me.
