![]() After months of development, Brightkite has finally released their iPhone application which interfaces with their location-based social network. The application automatically updates your location as you move, providing a much simpler way of updating your location throughout the day. You can also post notes and photos from a place, as well as see others who are near you. Below is a video of the Brightkite app in action: Brightkite is available for free in the App Store. You can sign up for Brightkite here (no invite required).

The application will snap to any location you have set up as a "placemark".

to get it to do what you want you have to to fire up gmap use gps to find were you at. memorize the location. fire up brightkite hit "more" then "search" then find the tgi fridays that lays on the street gmap located you at. save it as a placemark in brightkite then go back to the "more" tap then "placemarks" set your location in brightkite as the new placemark you just made snap the pic the post it.........then exhale lol

It's as simple as 1, 2 and 3 if you've never checked into the location or don't have it as a placemark. 1. Open the app. 2. Make sure find me is on and it's located you to the closest intersection. 3. Pick a place, and choose the TGI Fridays from there. When you hit pick a place, it will list all of the places sorted by proximity. If you have the place setup as a placemark or have previously checked in there before and have place snapping on in the iphone app, then it should automatically snap you to the location. Do note, the app is only as accurate as the phone allows it to be. We all know the iphones gps (if you have a 3g) can be quirky at times. |

@ barkerja i will say BK has shown a steady improvement to their data base when dealing with near by locations....last month BK wouldn't have been able to locate the jiffy lube that i stare at everyday that lays across the street. So i gave your tips a try today and guess what there it was. So i hope the guys at BK keep adding places to their system. And at some point i will go back to T.G.I.F and see if BK can find it the right way.
