Orange Denies Paying Line-Waiters In Poland - August 29th, 2008, 04:24 PM #1 |
![]() Roughly a week ago, a spokesman for Orange Poland openly stated that the company had hired actors to form fake queues in front of their stores to drum up publicity for their iPhone 3G launch. Not surprisingly, they are now denying the claim, saying that the lines that formed outside their stores were in fact real customers who just wanted iPhones. The rebuttal was in response to an email inquiry by Ad Age on the subject. "As part of the excitement around the launch of the iPhone, some of our team have been joining customers outside our shops. Their aim is to welcome people to the Orange shop, share in their excitement and give information about Orange tariffs," wrote a France Telecom Group spokeswoman. It is unknown if the report was the result of a mistake from the press, or the fault of the FTG employee. [via Ad Age]

Huh?! - August 29th, 2008, 04:35 PM #2 |

The real question is, does it really matter? So what?! It was a publicity stunt of sorts, it's done all the time and there is absolutely nothing wrong about it. Why is this even a story?
